Well, well, well, what can you do when essays are dragging, revision is getting you down and the sun is just not showing its pretty face? A spontaneous sailing trip to Portugal was just the ticket!
A week ago AN, MN, CN and I hopped on a plane, with a spring in our step and nothing but high hopes for a week of sunshine in Faro. Having raised the mast, we launched our trusty ship into the sea, we donned our raincoats and set off up the lagoon to find a nice little bay to anchor. Sadly, the heavens opened, and my goodness did the rain come down! Hours of torrential rain couldn't dampen the mood and despite our soaked clothes, a quick cuppa and a bar of choccy later and the happy sailors were back.
The boat proved to be a cozy little home for a week and we quickly adjusted to the slow, rocking rhythm of the sea. I am happy to say, we woke to find beautiful blue skies and warm breeze so we did what any sensible sailor would do and headed straight for the beach! Some of us were a little cautious of the "freezing" water, whilst the rest of us dived straight into the sea.
The rest of the week passed far too quickly in a happy blur of sailing, wine-drinking, sunshine, card-games, harmonica playing, steak-munching, fresh fish lunches, crab-finding, and singing all on board our wonderful little boat.
Thanks AN for being such a wonderful skipper and inviting us, the motley crew, on board, and to CN and MN for being the best company any crew could ask for.
