First Signs of Summer

The Imperial War Museum is one of my favourite places in London, so I couldn't wait to visit once the renovation work had been completed.

I love that the building is shrouded in so much history, as it was first used to house the mental asylum, also known as Bedlam. Today, the building houses the history of a complex and tragic past, but is paradoxically beautiful outside.

AN and I spent a thought-provoking day wandering the exhibition halls and soaking up the incredible stories that have been immortalised forever.

I do miss studying history and so this day was a brief re-visit to this geeky part of my personality.

Obviously, AN was in heaven and was so deeply engrossed that I had to bribe him with a doorstep sized slice of cake to drag him away for a quick 10 minute break. I would definitely recommend a visit to the tea rooms at the IWM, they are akin to a National Trust tea room and should not be missed.

AN spends all day everyday with tanks and yet spent a long time wandering the large entrance hall looking at the tanks and planes. The one thing he wanted a picture of.....his girlfriend with a tank, I was happy to oblige!

We ended the day with a quick ice cream sat in the grounds and enjoyed the last few rays of the afternoon sunshine.

Another perfect day

A Very Welsh Wedding

What's better than one wedding celebration? The answer is, a whole weekend of celebrations!

The castle we were staying was perfect for an R-W invasion, with each of us taking over a different wing of the sprawling maze of corridors.

After a long journey to the middle of no-where in Wales, we kicked off our shoes and jumped straight into.....the bath!

We kicked off the weekend with a Medieval banquet, complete with live band, a hog roast, endless champagne and a good old knees-up! Now that our family are spread all over the world, a wedding is one of the only occasions that we all seem to re-unite. We all enjoyed catching up with everyone's news and spending some good, quality family time together, complete with a cousin hug!

The next day, we waved off the groom and his best wo-men and then rushed back to prepare ourselves for a long day of celebrating. For some of us this involved a walk up a near-by hill, and for the sensible ones amongst us, we retreated to the spa for some pampering and hot-tub time!

The rest of the passed in a blur, a mix of delicious summer pavlovas, hilarious speeches and welsh dancing.

Congratulations to Mr and Mrs Williams, we all wish you so much happiness!

The Only Way Is Lulworth

A week or so ago HS, ER and I packed up the car with fake tan, eyelashes and carrot sticks and headed down to Dorset for what promised to be an eventful Officer's mess party. We were not disappointed!.

Inspired by the TV show TOWIE, we were encouraged to bling it up and slosh on the fake tan. The dresses were shorter, the make-up was heavier, the heels were higher and the drinks were flowing.

Everybody had a wonderful night, made even better by never-ending cocktails, dancing all night and a few cheeky shenanigans.

The rest of the weekend was spend enjoying lazy pub lunches and delicious brunches. We also managed to find a second to fit in a quick round of croquet, complete with sea views.

Thanks for a great night ladies!
