The Wizarding World of the KRH

My love of Harry Potter is no secret, so it will come as no surprise that when Mr AN handed me my letter to Hogwarts I may have done a little happy dance and screamed a little loudly. I knew Dumbledore hadn't forgotten me!

We donned our robes/ spider suits/ phoenix wings and round moon-shaped glasses and hopped on the Hogwarts express to show the wizarding world how to throw a party.

Not a bad turn out for a few muggles!

Everybody was present, including the giant squid from the lake and the Whomping Willow. It is always  sign of a great party when Dobby is dancing with Voldemort and when Moaning Mrytle is kissing a unicorn.

We entered through platform 9 and 3/4 into Diagon Alley and stopped in at the Three Broomsticks for a quick butterbeer before disappearing into the Great Hall for dinner.

My heart literally stopped beating for a second when I walked into the hall and saw the four long tables piled high with flagons of wine and platters of food. I looked up and saw that the ceiling did indeed reflect the night sky and was adorned with thousands of floating candles. The result and attention to detail was truly mesmerising.

After feasting on steak and lobster, salmon and prawns we had a little room for the dessert platter and a couple of pesky chocolate frogs.

The start of term feast over, we headed through the forbidden forest and on to the Quidditch pitch for a good old knees-up. The band were amazing and kept everyone dancing until the sun started to rise, when we all headed into the Gryffindor common room.

No words can describe how much fun I had escaping to the wizarding world and meeting some of my favourite characters.

All too soon it was over and I woke up in a sadly all too familiar muggle hungover-state with a little streak of glitter on my cheek.

Thanks VN for letting me steal your photos!

Thanks AN for a wonderful night and to VN, HW, MB, CS and TR for being the best company.

Riverside Strolls

Sometimes the best things are spontaneous. AN will not believe I just said that, because I am a planner through and through. But seriously, last weekend, for once, no plans were made.

We headed to Richmond to while away a sunny day, armed only with a small picnic and our oyster cards we headed to the Old Deer Park.

We were heading for the train station when AN suggested a quick drink down by the river bank and I was more than happy to oblige.

One drink turned into a cocktail of long island ice tea, filled with ice, which we drank with out swinging over the side and listening the the sounds of a lone busker strummer his guitar.

The weekend continued with a quick brunch with Miss NO at the Hummingbird Deli.

Maybe planning is overrated?

It's nice to be in Nice!

I love that our girls trips have become a frequent event, and even more wonderful is that our trip to the South of France has become an annual trip!

There is no-where more beautiful, where the sun shines every day and where so much fun is had.

This trip was extra special as we were celebrating this little one getting engaged!

And, of course, the rest of the Chicas became bridesmaids. So much to celebrate. The champagne was flowing and was never ending.

The first day we woke up and sat outside in the early morning heat of the day, digging into a wonderful brunch of orzo, avo, quails eggs and so many other goodies.

Fuelled and ready to go we headed down to Nice sea-front and picked up some bikes. We had a wonderful day whizzing down the promenade, feeling the sea-breeze knotting our hair.

Of course we cycled to the old port and to a mojito bar that over looks the harbour. Again, one we had worked out the practicalities of drinking we dived right in and gorged ourselves on some wonderful mezze boards.

A rather more wobbly cycle back was the result! However, we were treated to a gorgeous pink sunset across the bay.

The next day we headed to the beach and to our favourite beach club; Helios! The team are all so friendly and attentive, making sure every day is special and enjoyable.

We swam, gossiped and planned wedding details. We ate prawns bigger than our heads and sipped ice cold rose to keep ourselves cool. Obviously a day at the beach would not be complete without one of the Chica Mamas.

Other than my flight being cancelled, the weekend was perfect, filled with fun, friends and new memories!

Happy girls definitely are the prettiest.

Love you girls! SM (soon to be SHC), we cannot wait to be there for your big day, thanks for choosing us to be your bridesmaids!
