Cinema Paradiso

I have been wanting to explore inside the Grand Palais all year and even though I have been into the exhibitions rooms to see the Dynamo art installations, I haven't had the chance to go into the main body of the Palace. The olive green art nouveau domes play host to a variety of events around the year, including the Chanel and Louis Vuitton shows during fashion week and a little colony of bees that live on the roof. Recently, though, the palace was transformed into the Cinema Paradiso, a drive in american-style cinema with a 25 foot screen. I had pre-booked tickets months ago to ensure I would get a front row seat.

NH and I arrived with high expectations and buzzing with excitement. The first few hours we spent exploring the exhibition space, including a pop up Colette shop selling pop-tarts, hershey's and other American style treats. Next we battled it out over barbie-table football and some competitive video gaming that ranged from machines from the 70's right up to games of the future!

We feasted on mac n'cheese from the pop up Diner and then managed some fro-yo covered in chocolatey and fruity goodies.

Sugar-fuelled we decided to take a spin on the roller-disco dance floor which turned out to be an absolute disaster. Roller skating is surprisingly difficult, especially with French kids whizzing past us. We managed a quick skate to the bar carefully located in the middle of the roller-floor and then realised we were trapped, until a very kind instructor took pity on us and gave us a quick masterclass.

All skated out we took out places for the highlight of the night, watching Grease on the huge screen drive-in style. With the choice of cars, beds, seats and deck chairs to choose from we decided to go for the comfy beds and snuggled down ready for a good old sing along session. Reliving a classic film that I hadn't seen in ages in such a unique location was a fantastic way to spend an evening and there was no better way to explore and appreciate the beauty and timeless cool factor of the Grand Palais. Although if anybody wants to give me tickets for the Chanel fashion show next year, I won't say no!

Once the film finished we saw that the palace had transformed into a club, with the roller disco becoming a full dj set and dance floor and the diner was serving sodas with a kick. I wish we could have stayed and partied all night under the beautifully lit ceiling. We did manage to find the tree of life though!

Mood - Wanting to re-live some more old classics

Fatima Lopes AW 13/14 Paris Fashion WeeK

So I take back everything I said on Monday, I am not just a lucky lucky girl.....this week all my dreams came true! Yes that's right, my dreams all came true. Not one fashion show this week, but two! All thanks to this fantastically fabulous guy right here, who managed to get invited himself to all the hottest shows in town and kindly invited me along to Fatima Lopes' show yesterday. What a darling.

Check us out with our fantastic seats, looking the part!

Beautiful show programme, it was even scented.

Look at these two blogging away, so on it and up-to-date.

The show was fantastic and we were treated to structured and '3D' designs all in beautiful shades of blue and black. I have long been told that blue and black together are a big fashion faux pas and I am so  relieved that Ms Lopes's collection proved all those people wrong with her chic and modern designs.

I mean, any designer who designs all their pieces around the shaping and light reflection of a diamond gets my vote! The show was entitled "prism" and was reflected in the asymmetric use of pattern and the models sported dead-straight hair and simple makeup. The inter-mingling of the male and female collections created a much more natural show, using outfits to complement each other.

Here is a little video for you, check it out.

I have been very, very cheeky and stolen (with consent) the photos of the show, taken by the talented miss EU (Here) as she decided to muscle into the pit and therefore her photos far surpass mine.

Mood- One happy little lady

Nino Bollag AW 13/14 Paris Fashion Week

I have been a very very very lucky girl this week. Not only did I manage to wangle my way into a private tour of the Dali exhibition but I was invited by the beautiful IS to the Nino Bollag show for Paris fashion week. Life aim completed. The show was held at the exquisite Le Royal Monceau Raffles hotel and we were treated like absolute royalty the whole evening. The show was screened onto a large cinema screen rather than being a live runway which allowed the clothes to be shown is such detail and was a really quirky and unique idea.

IS reading about the impending apocalypse!

The collection show was entitled "The Day of Trouble is Near" and was based around the impending apocalypse with the models walking in a desolate quarry under-pass with grungy tousled hair and dark makeup. Oh so fashionable.

Block colours and oversized tailoring were the name of the game for Nino Bollag with the occasional splash of print. In my opinion it was an exciting and original collection. Check it out.

After the show the pieces were available for viewing and we had a quick chat with the designer about nature, in particular flocks of birds as being the inspiration behind the collection. Of course the evening was not complete without several glasses of Moet et Chandon and people watching, as well taking as a few cheeky snaps.

Such a treat!
Here is a little video that I captured of the show

Mood- Utterly spoilt!
